ProsDay in and day out the editors here at Import Tuner live and thrive off the dyno. We aren't scared to put a vehicle on the dyno and see what power numbers it really generates. No bullshit like, "We installed this intake system and I think it feels faster." Let me tell you first hand that doesn't work. We want to provide you, the readers, with the most accurate information available and help keep the manufacturers in check. We don't believe the hype unless it can be proven. With all that out of the way we were fortunate enough to have Nissan loan us a brand new 2003 Nissan 350Z track model. From what Nissan tells us, the 350Z they loaned us was the one they used when they filmed The Run. Mixed reactions went through us. We were honored about having this special "Z," but at the same time, we also realized this car had taken a beating by the driver in the video. Surprisingly, on the Dynojet the 350Z still produced power numbers that were consistent with all the other ones we have tested. The Nissan generated 234.4 horsepower and 223.0 lb-ft of torque in stock trim.
| Peak HP | 234.4 |
| Peak TQ | 223.0 |

Dyno NotesThe Z came in with 17,000 miles on the odometer. And knowing they were very hard miles, we decided to give it some tender loving care by taking it to Jiffy Lube for an oil change with Mobil 1 5-30W synthetic motor oil. The guys at Jiffy Lube also checked the pressure on the tires, which were low, and made sure the Nissan was filled to the rim with all other necessary fluids.
ConsSince the new 350Zs are normally aspirated, and not turbocharged like their predecessor, power delivery is very linear, which takes a little getting used to. With a sports car with a strong heritage like the Z, you expect gobs of power at whatever RPM band you are at. At least with the previous generation Z there was a little thing called a boost controller that gave you that thrill.

ProsThe AEM CAS is an exceptionally-designed intake system with all the pieces fitting perfectly in place. The instructions were very well done with a lot of photos to ease the install. The AEM CAS for the 350Z also comes in several different colors for you color-coordinating buffs.
