Creature Comforts
As Tarzan makes his way into the Recaro SP-G bucket seat and is strapped in with a set of Takada harnesses, he goes through a routine check of electrical switches as if piloting a F14 fighter jet. Flipping a multitude of switches on the custom dashboard, his eyes scan over a gaggle of gauges ranging from the CyberEVO ACD meter, A'PEXi water temp/oil meter, Trust (GReddy) boost meter, HKS EGT meter and NEKO A/F640 air/fuel meter. Keeping boost levels at a consistent level is a Trust Profec-B boost controller. Gripping the KEYS steering wheel, Tarzan quickly peers in the rearview mirror, looking over the full AP Engineering roll cage and AP reinforcement brackets, which safely surrounds his body as he slowly exits the pits. The battery also for safety reasons is securely mounted behind the driver seat, sealed in an Okuyama aluminum battery box.
Sex Appeal
For a vehicle that can post record setting times, produce ungodly horsepower, but yet possess a show quality appearance, is a skill that many have yet to perfect. C-West body kits not only look the part of racecar component but also have aerodynamic characteristics that enabled the CyberEVO to previously hit the fastest time at Tsukuba Race Circuit. When waging war, CyberEVO hits the battleground using a full C-West aero kit including the front and rear bumper, and side skirts. A carbon fiber bonnet, trunk, and GT wing enable the crew to lighten the overall curb weight of the vehicle. In search of continual weight loss, a set of CRUISE FRP lightweight passenger doors, Car Station Marchff, rear doors, and acrylic windows put the vehicle on a strict diet. Nothing is taken for granted in the world of circuit racing. The undercarriage has received a full carbon-fiber paneling treatment to redirect wind resistance while BLISS body coating minimizes wind drag on the vehicle.
What's The 411?
What does the 2004 season hold for the CyberEVO? Will they take back the title and set a new course record? Tarzan is positive that with a few minor modifications and further weight loss to the vehicle, the possibilities are endless. With a smirk Tarzan says, "To perform as well as anyone anticipated, using a non-carbon body is remarkable. We will definitely challenge the records this year." Tarzan plans to take the car to the ragged edge in hopes of clocking a record setting time to reclaim the title once again. We wish the Cyber crew and Tarzan the best of luck!
