2NR: Project Beta and Delta are currently under your belts as of now. Any plans for new and upcoming projects possibly dubbed Gamma or Zeta?
DH: Well Beta is currently being rebuilt and is being put together the same way our Project RSX (Delta) was built. Tony will be driving the RSX while Shaun Hillier will be driving the Integra (Beta). I believe if we took all the ballast (weight) out of the Integra it would actually be a lot lighter than the RSX and that's with the RSX sporting a full carbon-fiber shell. This is going to be very interesting because the old car might be faster than the new car. We will just have to wait and see.
2NR: So since we're talking weight here how much does project Delta weight exactly?DH: That's under wraps. I can't tell you. Well I can but then I'd have to kill you. Well, supposedly class weight is at a minimum of 1650 pounds with driver so ill just leave it at that for now.
2NR: Where do you see the import drag scene and do you think it will eventually die off?
DH: In terms of drag racing I think it will always be popular because to the consumer it is the most direct bang for the buck in terms of performance. If your engine is making power then the car should be going faster. The other fact is street racing. Back then you had that little OG list of racers who started out with street racing and became famous on the drag circuit such as Myles Bautista, Lisa Kubo, Tony Fuchs and Stephan Pappdakis; the classic crews such as Wicked, Cyber and Redline all began their roots in street racing and has grown to the professional levels. The never ending cycle of up and coming racers will continue to grow in the drag scene as long as manufacturers and shops steadily develop new products.
2NR: In closing, what does Skunk2 have in store in the near future for consumers to look forward to?
DH: Well we want to start to concentrate on more engine components such as camshafts for various cars such as the NSX, S2000 and more K-series products. We have just finished our new race series programmable ECU which is plug and play which should be out within the next few months. We will be back at the tracks in 2004 with the RSX and Integra so look for them as we look to recapture the all motor title once again.
