TimeShift Video Game Review

TimeShift takes FPS fans on a futuristic, time-travelling adventure that explodes with action and loads of firepower. Former military officer, Michael Swift, agrees to take on a highly experimental government job after suffering the tragic loss of his daughter. Swift is charged with testing the government's most significant inventions of the century--a time-control device called the Quantum Suit, and a Time Machine called the Chronomicon. Playing with time is always a risky situation, as Swift finds out after returning from his brief mission to the past to plant an experimental probe. Now, the world is completely different, and Swift's knowledge of the "time stream" suddenly makes him an Enemy of the State.

Fortunately for Swift, he still has the ability to manipulate time in three different ways: slow down, stop, or reverse the flow completely. This is more than just a "re-do" feature--deciding to alter time in the game affects the state of the world and Swift's enemies, and could cause other unforeseen incidents, so use it wisely to help defeat difficult enemies or get through harder scenarios. Also, Swift's military background comes in handy and combined with sweet weapons, like the KP-Hellraiser that shoots flaming bullets or the ultra-deadly Surge Gun that disintegrates enemies with huge energy charges.

A deep storyline is played out over 30 missions in richly detailed environments that takes advantage of next-gen platforms, as well as the PC's graphic capabilities. TimeShift even offers multiplayer online play with up to 16 players with the ability to use time based weapons against each other. TimeShift is a nice change of pace from the regular military/war FPS games and takes gamers on a unique and challenging adventure.
