Tanya Schafer works 7 days a week and goes to school, so catching up with her for this interview was no easy task. After phone tag and e-mails, we finally got it done. This leggy beauty may not have much time for any fun, but her ambitions and goals are definitely set. She's lived all over Southern California, can beat you in a pie-eating contest and has this crazy fascination with pigs.
2nr: How did you get into modeling?
Tanya Schafer: Well, I did a favor for a friend that was a photographer for a local magazine. I shot for the style section of the magazine and they ended up calling me and asking if they could use my photos for the cover and the centerfold. I guess they didn't like the other models' photos that much. After that, I got a call from another photographer and started working with his company called KMC Wheels. I met a girl that ended up being my best friend, almost like a sister, and she showed me the ropes of modeling. The rest is history!
2nr: What other work have you done in the car industry?
TS: Well, I've worked for KMC Wheels for 4 years now. In MPH magazine I was the UPS girl for a year, but it's dead now. I've worked with Zenetti Wheels, and I was also a Toyo Tires spokesmodel this past year. I've also done shows like DUB and SEMA.
2nr: So, you've been a busy bee then?
TS: I work 7 days a week!
2nr: Not much time for fun then I suppose. That sucks, but I guess it could be worse.
TS: Yeah, I do work a lot and I go on a lot of calls, but I try to book everything over the phone or over E-mail. It sucks driving all over the face of the earth and then finding out you didn't get the job.
2nr: So what kind of car do you drive?
TS: I have a 2005 Jetta. I would love to have a BMW, based on looks alone. An SUV would be cool, but I'm not sure which one. I had a Nissan Armada and really loved it, but it was gas retarded.
2nr: What are the best and worst parts of modeling?
TS: The best part of modeling is getting all pretty... you know, the make-up, hair, clothes. It makes you feel like a star. The worst part of modeling would have to be waiting to get paid. If you work for yourself like I do, you can get screwed, or you have to wait well over a month for a paycheck. It makes it hard to pay the bills on time.
2nr: It doesn't matter when you get paid, it's always hard to pay bills... from my experience anyway! Ok, so tell me about a typical shoot...
TS: I would have to say the photo shoot with 2nr had to be one of, if not, the best shoots I have ever done. The photographer was just amazing, along with the make-up artist and stylist. They had to be the best bunch of people I have worked with in a long time. Thank you guys!!
2nr: So where do you like to hang out?
TS: Hang out? What's that?! I don't do too much of that anymore because I'm always working, but when I do go out it usually involves dancing. Anywhere, anytime, as long as some kind of music is playing. Oh, and I love to go out to restaurants because I love to eat. People are usually in shock when they see me eat.
2nr: Really... you have to describe.
TS: It's not all over my face or anything! I can just eat a lot, and people are surprised because I'm pretty thin.
2nr: It must be your hollow leg. So what is your favorite food to stuff yourself with?
TS: Everything! But if I have to name one type, it would have to be Italian.
